Yuri Pavlovich Hydzenko visited orbit three times. The total stay in space is 329 days.
First flight to Space Yuri Gyzenko made from September 3, 1995 to February 29, 1996 as the commander of the Soyuz TM-22 spacecraft and the World Orbital Station together with Sergey Avdeev (Russia) and Thomas Raiter (Germany) According to EO-20 and Euromar-95 programs. During the flight Yuri Gyzenko worked out the exits in open and closed space. The duration of the outputs was 3 hours and 35 minutes. During the flight, the astronauts conducted a large number of geophysical experiments within the Russian scientific program. The duration of the flight was 179 days.
For the second time, Yuri Gyzenko went to orbit on October 31, 2000 on the Soyuz TM-31 ship under the ISS-1 program as a ship commander and pilot, along with Sergey Crycalev (Russia) and William Sheperd (USA). During the first long experiment to the International Space Station, work was carried out with two expeditions of visits (STS-97 and STS-98). On March 21, 2001, Yuri Hyzenko successfully returned to Earth on the Shuttle “Endesor Sts-102” as a flight specialist. The duration of the expedition was 140 days.
On April 25, 2002, the cosmonaut began his third space flight as the commander of the Soyuz TM-34 spacecraft, along with Astronaut Roberto Vittor (Italy) and Space Tourist Mark Shuttleworth (South Africa). During the flight, the crew held the Russian-European scientific program “Marco Polo”. On May 5, 2002, on the ship “Union TM-33”, Yuri Gyzenko returned to Earth safely. The duration of the flight was 9 days.
From May 2009 to September 2010, Yuri Gyzenko held the position of Deputy Head of the Center for Cosmonaut Preparation. In 2010, he quit to the reserve from the armed forces in the rank of colonel. Since 2011, he has been working in the National Space Corporation named after S.P. Koroleva (part of the state corporation “Roscosmos”). Currently holds the position of deputy head of the Center – the head of the department, and is also the first deputy head of flights.
