US condemns China’s response imposed against American individuals. This is reported by TASS with reference to the statement of Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
Blinken noted that the measures taken by the PRC, with respect to the two members of the US Commission on the International Freedom of Religion, are unfounded. According to him, China went on it as a response step on Washington’s sanctions against Chinese officials related to serious human rights violations in Xinjiang.
Earlier, a member of the Federation Council, Alexey Pushkov, commented on the introduction of peeking responses against individuals and companies from the United States and Canada. “The United States in essence has not yet experienced counter-based sanctions on the part of other states, but they will inevitably face it. China is able to introduce serious response,” he warned.
MFA has imposed sanctions against individuals and enterprises from the United States and Canada on March 27. Under them were including the head of the Commission of the United States of America on the international freedom of the religion of Tony Perkins and a member of the Canadian Parliament Michael Chong.
The reason for mutual sanctions was the report of the NEWLINES INSTITUTE Analytical Center, the authors of which accused China in violating each of the prohibitions of the UN Convention on the Prevention of the Crime of Genocide and Punishment for Him. They found evidence, allegedly confirming systematic violations of human rights in relation to Muslim minorities in the Sinzian-Uygur region.
