A huge hidden batch of vaccine against coronavirus Swedish-British company Astrazeneca was found near Rome. It is reported by the Italian edition of La Stampa.
It is argued that the party of 29 million doses was intended for the UK, but was allegedly blocked by the European Union. Later, the Government of Italy denied this information. They said that the Italian authorities conducted an inspection at the factory in the city of Anagni, where vaccines were discovered at the request of the European Commission. Checking found that the vaccine was intended for Belgium, and not for the UK.
In late February, it became known that Europe will not be adopted by tens of millions of vaccine from Astrazeneca in the second quarter of this year – the block will receive only 30 million doses instead of the stated 90. In response, the head of the European Commission Ursula Vod Lyien threatened the company Astrazeneca to prohibit exporting its vaccine from Coronavirus from the European Union to other states due to a sharp reduction in deliveries.
At the same time, the EU covered the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Minister of Health FRG Jens Schppna warned that even if the supply of vaccines in the EU stabilize, then at least a week of risk vaccination will still leave at least a few weeks.
