Russian and American scientists gathered the mosquito genom to wean them to drink a man’s blood or tolerate parasites causing malaria. This “Interfax” reported in the press service of St. Petersburg University ITMO.
It is assumed that the mosquito genome will simplify the fight against malaria. New data will help to find genes of genes responsible for the transmission of the disease, and will make it so that the malarious mosquitoes either stop feeding human blood or have not transferred parasites.
in the mosquito genome about 300 million characters, which is ten times less than a person. At the same time, insects have only three pairs of chromosomes. For the collection of genome, the material was used from the entire colony of mosquitoes, so the DNA was immediately set in the sequenator. “As a result, we see all the individual differences in individual mosquitoes that need to level to collect a reference genome,” said Anton Zamyatin, an employee of the scientific and educational center of genomic diversity.
It is clarified that previously scientists have had the reference genome of only one species of Anopheles Gambiae, now at their disposal two more types of African malaria mosquitoes: Anopheles Coluzzii and Anopheles Arabiesis.
In 2019, scientists from the Siberian State Medical University found out, people with a group of blood most often bite mosquitoes. According to experts, the most attractive “victims” are people with a group of blood. According to the study, they bite two times more often than representatives of group II.
