US mulling to ban firearms

US President Joe Biden called on Congress to intensify efforts to prohibit or tighten control over firearms. It quotes Reuters.

“I do not want to wait for a minute or an hour before take measures to save lives. I urge colleagues in the House of Representatives and the Senate to active actions,” the politician said. Biden also wanted to re-ban the “assault” weapon with large capacity stores. In his opinion, this is one of the best ways to prevent violence.

“as your president, I promise that I can clean the street from these weapons of war,” concluded Biden.

The proposal of the American leader sounded against the background of the tragedy in Colorado, which became the second case of mass shooting in the United States in one week. As a result of the first incident, 10 people died, as a result of the second – shooting happened in Atlanta, Georgia – 8 people became victims.

Numerous cases of mass shooting in the United States still have not led to the adoption of the law on controlling the use of weapons. Reuters indicates that this is largely due to the opposition of Republicans in Congress. The right to wearing weapons is enshrined in the second amendment to the US Constitution, and many Americans will value them.

At the same time, according to polls, about 70 percent of Americans support the introduction of strict weapons wearing restrictions.
