President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree on the introduction of response against a number of foreign individuals and legal entities from countries involved in the introduction of restrictions against the authorities of the republic. The message appeared on the official website of the head of state.
The document emphasizes that such measures have been adopted to provide state security and “protection of national interests”. “Decree provides for the introduction of a ban on the import into the country of individual categories of goods, as well as to import work (services),” the report says.
It is noted that the specific list of feasting under sanctions will be published after the relevant decision of the Belarusian Council of Ministers.
On February 25, the European Union extended the action of the sanctions package against the Belarusian authorities for violence against protesters after the presidential election. Restrictions against high-ranking Belarusian officials, as well as against companies and businessmen, “relevant benefit from Lukashenko, will remain until February 28, 2022.
