At the end of March 2021, in the scientific and test complex of the Scientific and Production Association “Energomash” named after Academician V.P. Glushko (part of the state corporation “Roscosmos”) ended the cycle of fire tests of the first contender liquid rocket engine RD-171MV. All eight of fire tests conducted over three months, were successful, confirming the engine efficiency and accuracy of the selected design and technological solutions.
NGO CEO Energomash Igor Arbuzov congratulated the company’s team with the completion of fire tests, noting that the work done is a merit and assessment of the work outcome of the whole team, since the engine creation and its further work depends entirely on the level of design and technological solutions, as well as From the quality of the performance of work related to the creation of the engine. “Now, according to the results, you can say – yes, the engine took place!” – Added Igor Watermelov.
Chief Designer NGO Energomash Peter Levochkin stressed that the conducted fire tests once again showed the ability of the company’s team to create the most advanced engines in the world.
The next stage of work will be the delivery of the engine RD-171MV to the Progress Rocket and Space Center (Samara, is part of the state corporation “Roscosmos”) for a number of tests in the first stage of the prospective launch vehicle “Soyuz-5 “.
