Russian military, detained on March 30 in Rome on espionage charges, will be expelled from Italy. It is reported by the Corriere Della Sera publication.

previously became known that the officer of the Navy Italy and an employee of the Russian Embassy in Rome were detained in the Italian capital on espionage charges. The detention was made on March 30, when the captain of the Italian fleet passed to Russian military documents, in which, presumably contained confidential data, in exchange for money. The names of the suspects are not disclosed. The investigation assumes that the Italian officer could take espionage in favor of Russia due to financial difficulties in the family.
Before that, the spy scandal broke out in Bulgaria. On March 19, the Bulgarian Prosecutor’s Office reported that six employees of the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense and military intelligence were detained on suspicion of espionage in favor of Russia. On March 22, the court decided to place all the defendants in custody.
