Delivery of goods from China to Europe by rail through Asia and Russia has become more attractive for the country after the rapid restoration of the Chinese economy after the coronavirus pandemic. This is reported by Financial Times, RBC reports.
In January-February 2021, more than two thousand cargo trains went to Europe from China, which is twice as much as in 2020. In general, last year, the number of shipments on land increased by 50 percent and seven times – from 2016.
Sales Specialist In one of the manufacturing companies in China, Nina Fang explained this by the fact that since the middle of last year, the prices of transportation by the sea from the middle of last year, but also the delivery time has increased twice, which caused discontent of partners.
In turn, the agent in Shanghai Fione Wang added that electronics, fitness equipment and products to combat coronavirus, most likely, will continue to be delivered along land, as these goods are in great demand and are not suitable for air transport.
The publication writes that up to 30 percent of customers refused maritime transport in favor of the railway.
Another reason for the popularity of rail transport was the blocking of the shyman of the ship in the Suez Canal. This incident prevents the passage of other container ships. According to the estimates of Lloyd’s List, one hour of blocking the Suez Canal costs world trade of $ 400 million.
