Tikhanovskaya appealed to world for support of Coordination Council

The former presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya appealed to international leaders for the support of the Coordination Council of the Belarusian Opposition (COP). This is stated in its Telegram channel.

“Today, together with Svetlana Aleksievich and 55 members of the main composition of the Coordination Council, I sent a letter to international organizations and structures, including the UN, OSCE, the European Parliament, the US State Department and the Council of Europe, with the call to speak in support of the COP” , “she said.

Tikhanovskaya noted that the members of the CS were exposed to pressure and repression, and many of his leaders are in prison or had to leave the territory of Belarus. “Against members of the CS, criminal proceedings are accused of extremism and terrorism,” said politician.

According to her, the actions of the authorities have nothing to do with the work of the COP, since the purpose of the opposition is a peaceful decision of the political crisis.

On April 2, the State Security Committee of Belarus made Tikhanovskaya to the list of persons and organizations involved in terrorist activities. Prior to that, a criminal case on the preparation of the terrorist attack opened against it. It happened after the words of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. He stated that he would not give the descent of the radical opposition.

Before that, Tikhanovskaya launched a vote about negotiations with the authorities through the mediation of the UN and the OSCE, to “reach representatives of the regime that still think about the people and want to get out of the crisis.” She expressed confidence that the voting will return to citizens a sense of unity, most and power. At the same time, Tikhanovskaya announced the start of new protests in the country.
