In the unrecognized republic of Kosovo with the third attempt, a new president was chosen. They became the speaker of the parliament of Vios Ottoman. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the Parliament.
So, on the first two circles of the voting, the presidential candidacy must score 80 out of 120 votes. However, on Saturday, April 3, only 79 deputies took part in the elections, and the meeting lasted until 23:00. As a result, the voting decided to postpone on April 4.
In the first two circles of voting on April 4, Osmani was also not able to gain the right number of votes – 71 deputies made it for her candidacy, another 11 votes were recognized by invalid. Only on the third round of elections, in which 61 vote was required, Osmanica was approved for the post of head of state.
According to the Kosovo Constitution, the President is elected in parliament. For his candidacy must vote at least 80 out of 120 deputies.
Vios Osmani held three mandates as a deputy of the Democratic Union of Kosovo in Parliament, headed the Foreign Affairs Committee, Diaspora and Strategic Investments. In addition, at the end of 2020, she founded the GUXO! Party!, And from February 2020 to March 2021 was a speaker of the parliament.
