In the United States, the interceptor was announced to shoot down Russian missiles: the Pentagon chose the Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman concerns to develop the next-generation interceptor (NGI). This is informed by RIA Novosti.
It is expected that the interceptors will impose on combat duty in the middle of the 2020s and eventually become the core of the American system of pro.
The appearance of “promising anti-missiles” and characteristics are not disclosed. It is assumed that NGI is designed primarily against the latest Russian missile systems “Avangard”. The difference between the anti-declarations of the pro from the anti-aircraft is that it is indispensable for a proactive point in which an enemy target will be in a certain time. However, the publication notes that the trajectory of the combat block “avant-garde” is extremely unpredictable.
The NGI program started in April last year to develop and create a new anti-missile launcher 4.9 billion dollars and five years.
Earlier it was reported that US Navy (Navy) as part of the NEXT Generation Air Dominance project (NGAD) was planned in the 2030s to obtain a replacement F / A-18E / F SUPER HORNET fighters. The relevant program can develop in two directions – manotable and unmanned. In the future, this may lead to an increase in the impact power of aircraft carriers, since the number of aircraft on the latter can grow from the current 76 to 90.
