Former Crown Prince of Jordan Hamza Ben Hussein recorded a video message in which he stated that he was placed under house arrest against the background of criticism of government actions. This is reported by “BBC.”
According to Prince, he was visited by the head of the General Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces, which was not allowed that he was not allowed to go outside, communicate with people or meet them. “Because at those meetings, where I was present, or in social networks on the basis of events with my participation, the criticism of the government or the king was noticed,” he said. Hamza Ben Hussein added that he was personally not charged with critical comments against government representatives.
The former heir to the throne also stated that he was not responsible for the failure in management, corruption and incompetence, which, according to him, prevail in the government structure of Jordan for the last 15-20 years. The prince stressed that the situation “reached such a point when no one can speak or express opinions on any issue and not to be seeded, arrested, tortured and not collide with threats.”
Earlier it was reported that a member of the Royal Family Sheriff Hasan Ben Zaid and a former adviser to the king Jordan Abdullah II, Ex-Minister of Finance Bassam Avandalla, were arrested in Amman.
