Open Original texts of the game engine Storm used in a series of role-playing games Corsairs aimed at lovers of marine battles. In agreement with the copyright holder, the code is open under the GPLv3 license. The developers hope that the accessibility of the code will open up new opportunities for the development of both the engine and the game itself, thanks to the introduction of innovations and corrections by the community.
The engine is written in C ++ and still supports the Windows platform and graphic API DirectX 9. From the plans to further development is mentioned replacing the rendering code for cross-platform library bgfx , which is beyond
DirectX supports the OpenGL, Vulkan, Metal and WebGL graphic API, and can be used in Linux, Android and FreeBSD. It is also planned to replace the built-in mathematical library and code for processing input to GLM and Gainput . The built-in language to develop scripts is planned to be replaced by LUA, the system of configuration files in the “.ini format” on JSON, and special binary resource formats into standard formats.
