Power plant in North Sea to adapt to rescue of planet

Danish energy company Orsted is going to build a large wind power plant in the North Sea, and adapt it to save the planet. The energy produced there will be aimed at the production of hydrogen, which is considered as an eco-friendly substitute for oil and gas. According to CNBC, several large industrial companies are interested in the project.

“Since the world is striving for decarbonization, it is imperative that we act now to ensure the long-term competitiveness of the European industry in the conditions of the Green Economy,” the commercial director Osted Martin Neubert.

In Denmark, a construction project appeared in the North Sea of the artificial island for the accumulation of energy, mined by sea wind power plants. Its cost is estimated at $ 34 billion.

Artificial Island is planning to create a close to the Peninsula of Jutland 80 kilometers from the coast, construction should start in 2026. It is assumed that the iste will serve hundreds of wind turbines around it, and in the future – to accumulate “green” energy and transmit it to consumers in countries bordering the Northern Sea.

Search for an alternative to traditional energy sources has become particularly relevant in the last decade against the background of climate change. The substitute for oil and gas is considered hydrogen. In its pure form on Earth, it practically does not occur, but it can be extracted from a large number of common resources. One method includes the use of electrolysis with water separation to oxygen and hydrogen by electric current. If the electricity used in the process comes from renewable sources, such as wind or sun, then such hydrogen is called renewable or “green”.
