Departure of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus Pavel Muravyko announced the “cardinal revision” of the Minsk military doctrine of the Union State and the soon approval of the amendments to it, RIA Novosti reports.
According to him, now the specified document is a coordinated basis of military policy between Russia and Belarus, and the final edits will be approved by the Supreme State Council of the Republic. “We do not stand still in law enforcement practice,” said Muraviko. What specifically changes in the doctrine are speaking, the commander did not report.
On March 9, the then Ambassador of Russia in Belarus Dmitry Mezentsev said that Moscow does not plan to create a single army with Minsk, but to build cooperation within the organization of the Collective Security Treaty (CSTO). “I do not see any need today,” the diplomat emphasized.
At the same time, the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko reported more than once that the work on the unification of Russia and Belarus is absolutely unnecessary. According to him, Belarusians live “in their apartment” and wish to keep sovereignty.
