The number of deaths in childbirth and stillbirths took off worldwide. Scientists record the growth of such cases by 30 percent on the background of the coronavirus pandemic. The corresponding review was published in The Lancet.
For this, experts analysts analyzed 40 scientific research in 17 countries and came to the conclusion that risks for pregnancy increase due to overload of health systems, fear of women before going to doctors, restrictions and troubleshooting of hospitals.
The study indicates that the death of women during childbirth recorded in a pandemic was prevented. However, the number of premature births remained at the same level.
In addition, the number of mental problems among young mothers has grown. So, out of 10 studies, six indicate an increase in cases of postnatal depression and anxiety.
It is noted that the study did not take into account the factor of the disease coronavirus during pregnancy. Scientists considered only the side effect of a pandemic for pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum period.
Previously, scientists found out that the pregnancy was twice as a risk of death from coronavirus. Of the more than 19 thousand examined pregnant women, patients with COVID-19, were died 33 patients, mortality in this category was 0.2 percent. At the same time, among non-embled women, this factor was twice as smaller.
