Moved deadly disease man again fell ill and infected 100 people

A man from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), who suffered a deathly dangerous fever of Ebola, again fell ill and infected almost 100 people. This is reported by ABC News TV channel with reference to the publication in the Medical Journal of New England Journal of Medicine.

The case occurred with a 25-year-old driver of mototals. In December 2018, he was taken from Ebola after he came into contact with an infected person. Six months later, a man still infected with a fatal virus, but managed to survive. After two negative blood tests, the man was discharged from the hospital. However, in November 2020, symptoms returned to him again, his condition deteriorated sharply, and he died the day after hospitalization in a specialized center.

Analyzes showed that the disease of the man was most likely caused by a relapse, and not new infection. Experts note that men have ebola virus able to persist in semen for more than a year after the disappearance of symptoms. According to scientists, the patient was either unable to develop immunity or lost it for six months after infection, which led to a re-illness.

Ebola Fever Epidemic in West Africa began in February 2014 in Guinea. She then went beyond the country and spread to Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Senegal and Mali. Cases of the disease were also recorded in a number of European countries and in the United States. Over 30 thousand people were infected with the virus, more than 12 thousand of them died.
