A Russian diplomat, with whom, allegedly communicated, arrested for espionage officer of the Navy Italy, was an employee of the Great Dmitry Ostrukhov. The name Russians revealed the Italian newspaper La Repubblica.
According to the newspaper, he was one of the dozen intelligence officers under the Russian Embassy. At the same time, La Repubblica does not reveal its sources, RIA Novosti indicates.
Ostrochov allegedly worked with the Italian captain from December 2020. The Italian named Walter Biot handed over the Russian side at least three parties of stolen documents, said the newspaper.
March 31, Italy sent two employees of Russian diplomices. Local authorities argue that the Navy officer and the Russian Embassy officer in Rome were detained on espionage charges. It is argued that on March 30, the captain of the Italian fleet allegedly conveyed to Russian military secret documents in exchange for 5 thousand euros.
The names of the suspects are not disclosed. The investigation assumes that the Italian officer could take espionage in favor of Russia due to financial difficulties in the family.
