Lithuania: have revealed thousands of cases of Covid-19 infection by mink

More than seven thousand cases of contamination of Coronavirus revealed on a mink farm in the Radvilisk district of the Lithuanian area. This is reported by “Sputnik Lithuania” with reference to the State Food and Veterinary Service of the Republic.

According to the department, this outbreak has already become the fourth in the specified area, and the authorities have not yet been able to stop the spread of infection. Experts suggest that the cause of mass infection could be the presence of coronavirus from one of the farm workers.

It is noted that all the ill covid-19 animals will be isolated and exterminated, their carcasses will be destroyed. In addition, the authorities were banned from the farm from the farm food, equipment and any products of animal origin. In the area of ​​infection, quarantine was announced.

For the first time, Koronavirus in Mink was discovered in November 2020 in Denmark. Animals revealed an infection strain that spread to people and contributed to the weakening of the ability to form an antibody. The government of the country ordered to destroy 17 million individuals.

After that, the outbreaks on animal farms were recorded in other countries of Europe and North America. In the US in mid-December, scientists also revealed the case of infection with coronavirus in the wild mink.
