The salary of Russian astronauts will increase at least 50 percent. This is reported by TASS.
The decision of the President of Russia on a significant increase in the average salary of cosmonauts commented on the first deputy general director of Roskosmos on the economy and finances of Maxim Ovchinnikov. According to him, candidates for astronauts will receive 70 percent more than before – to a little less than 300 thousand rubles. “For those who flew, an increase of 50 percent – their salary a little more than 500 thousand rubles on average,” shells noticed.
At the same time, the salaries of Russian astronauts still almost two times lower than their colleagues from the USA and Europe. The representative of Roscosmos said that NASA astronauts on average receive about 8-9 thousand dollars, the astronauts of the European Space Agency – 7-8 thousand dollars.
Maxim Ovchinnikov admitted that it took about four months to solve the issue of raising wages. “The task of increasing the salary of astronauts is a priority for the corporation. She is directly involved in Dmitry Olegovich Rogozin, the commander of the cosmonauts squad Oleg Dmitrievich Kononenko and the responsible divisions of the corporation,” said Ovchinnikov. According to the representative of Roscosmos, the first payments after the increase should come in the near future.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to prepare proposals for a significant increase in salaries of Russian astronauts on April 12. Putin also instructed the Government to prepare and approve a document on a comprehensive and long-term approach in the space industry.
