Google introduced patches with improved implementation of the LRU mechanism for Linux. LRU ( LEAST Recently user ) is a mechanism that allows you to discard or unload unused memory pages into swap. According to the Google corporation, the current implementation of the push content determination mechanism creates a too high load on the CPU, and often takes bad decisions, exactly what you upload your pages.
In the experiments conducted by the new implementation LRU reduced the number of forced program termination because of lack of memory in the system (OOM kill) at 18% Chrome OS by 96% decreased number of dropped tabbed browser due to lack of memory and 59% decreased by the number of OOM KILL in loaded devices. This is the second version of the patches, where the performance regression is eliminated and the disadvantages noticed when testing.
