Russian who has captured to the pirates along with the rest of the Davide ship crew, which was captured in the Gulf of Guinea, were released. This was announced by the representative of the Dutch company DE Poli Shipmanagement Cor Radings, RIA Novosti reports.
As Radings told, they freed all 15 sailors kidnapped on March 11. At the moment they are safe, medical examinations are undergoing and are repatriated to their countries. Their state is estimated as relatively good.
The criminals attacked the vessel MT Davide B off the coast of Nigeria and captured several crew members, including Russian S. Widovina, March 11. A similar case occurred at the end of November 2020. Then the attackers kidnapped four crew members, including a citizen of Russia.
The region of the Guinean Bay is considered dangerous for sailors – pirates often attack the ships of different countries. Piracy developed there in the first decade of century. Representatives of this structure are mainly well armed gangs specializing in the abduction of petroleum products.
Sea pirates have become a serious threat to the global oil market. At the Guinean Bay, the key center, within which oil production is carried out by eight exporting countries in Western Africa, have more than 20 pirates attacks and 90 percent of all abductions in the open sea.
