Submarine Indonesian Navy KRI Nanggala 402, missing during exercises and not in touch may be in the sea at a depth of 700 meters. Details revealed the Daily Star newspaper with reference to the commander of the Armed Forces of Indonesia Hadi Chakhjento.
Cahjanto said that the submarine disappeared at 96 kilometers north of Bali around 3 o’clock at night local time. “Once it was given a permission for immersion, we immediately lost contact,” he described the situation and added that, according to preliminary data, the submarine is in the sea at a depth of 700 meters.
According to the official representative of the first admiral of Julius Vidhokhono, the submarine participated in the torpedo exercises in the waters of the North Bali, but did not transfer any results.
The missing KRI Nanggala 402 became known on April 21. On board are 53 sailors. Indonesia asked Singapore and Australia to help with search.
The ship KRI Nanggala 402, built in Germany in 1981, has a cruising speed of 21.5 knots and, as expected, was upgraded in 2011.
