For first time, an effectively killing cancer substance

University’s scientists in the United States for the first time synthesized the natural compound – Kurkon D – to suppress the activity of the tumor protein, making many cancerous diseases difficult to be heal. The results of a scientific study published in Journal of the American Chemical Society briefly described in a press release on PHYS.ORG.

Chemical compounds related to Kurcuzons are obtained from Jatropha Curcas yatrophy shrub. Scientists know the anti-cancer properties of Kurkuzonov A, B, C and D, which in the new work tested on breast cancer cells.

It turned out that Kurkon D effectively suppresses the activity of the oncoprotein of Brat1, which restores the DNA of cancer cells, increasing the survival rate of malignant tissues. The researchers have long been looking for ways to damage the genomes and thus kill cancer cells so as to stop the tumor growth and prevent the formation of metastases. There are preparations that are able to suppress the migration of tumor cells into other fabrics and organs, but still there were no connections inhibiting Brat1. In addition, it is shown that the combined therapy with drug damaging DNA, in combination with Kurkuzon D even more efficient than each connection separately.

The problem was that to obtain even a small amount of Kurkuzon, a lot of shrub requires, and it is difficult to separate the compounds from other chemicals in the roots. To allocate about a quarter of a teaspoon, you need to get about 50 kilograms of dry roots. However, researchers found a simple and inexpensive way to obtain turmeric for 9-12 steps of chemical synthesis in quantities suitable for pharmaceutical use.
