Roskosmos after exiting the project of the International Space Station (ISS) allows NASA to transfer the NASA of the Russian segment of the orbital laboratory, RIA Novosti reports, referring to the statement of the general director of the State Corporation Dmitry Rogozin.
“We will give responsibility for our segment to our partners or will perform those tasks that are necessary to maintain the station, on a commercial basis, and not at the expense of our budget,” said the manager.
According to Rogozin, the Russian segment of the station is worn out 80 percent, and its maintenance “will require about the same means that it will be necessary since 2025 to deploy a separate National Russian orbital station.”
In April, the manager stated that a scientific and energy module (NEM) was used as a reasons for the construction of the Rosysian orbital station, originally created for the ISS.
In the same month, Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov said that Russia in 2025 will be released from the ISS project and start creating a new national orbital station. At the same time, the official said that the situation associated with the aging of the designs of the ISS acquires a catastrophic nature and Russia cannot risk the life of astronauts.
