The material states that in 2020, Apple reduced energy consumption in offices and enterprises by 13.9 million kilowatt-hours. The report notes the benefit for ecology due to the fact that the company has ceased to equip its smartphones with chargers and wired headphones. Thanks to this approach, Apple saved about 861 thousand tons of copper, zinc and tin. Analysts noted that due to a decrease in the size of the box with a smartphone on the transport pallets, it became 70 percent more iPhone.
Representatives of the company noted that they continue to use secondary raw materials in their devices. For example, MacBook Air is 40 percent consist of a recycled material. The iPhone 12 and Apple Watch 6 uses 99 percent of recycled tungsten. Thanks to this approach, Apple reduced the amount of utilized waste by 39 thousand tons.
Apple stated that the charging adapters and headphones will stop laying in the boxes with iPhone, in October. Later, the example of the American company followed Samsung, Xiaomi and other manufacturers of smartphones.
