Japanese scientists have proven the benefit of resembling their own person. They determined that at this moment Dopamine is produced in the human body – a hormone of pleasure. The results of the work of specialists are published in the Cerebral Cortex magazine.
They conducted an experiment, during which participants showed photos similar to them. At the subconscious level, people saw themselves in the photographs, and a plot was activated in brain responsible for the production of hormone.
To compare the results of the study, the experiments showed images of others that are not similar to them. However, this time the sections responsible for processing new information were activated in the brain.
“We found that the activation of the ventral tegmental region, which is a central source of dephaminamy, was more active even during the subconscious representation of the participant’s own person, rather than in the presentation of people of other people,” said the head of the study of the OTA.
