Impact of construction of “Northern Flow-2” on environment

The construction of the Russian section of the Northern Flow-2 gas pipeline did not have any significant impact on the ecology of the region. This is stated in the report of the construction of the NORD Stream 2 AG pipeline on the results of environmental monitoring.

It is noted that the impact of construction work on the environment corresponds to permissible indicators and is insignificant. The construction was not affected by the quality of water and the cader’s particularly protected territory of the marsh complex. It also did not lead to the activation of exogenous processes in the Kurgal reserve and did not have a strong influence on the behavior of animals and birds of the Finnish Bay, rated in Nord Stream.

Environmental monitoring in Russia will continue. His conduct is part of the requirements of the jurisdictions of Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany, through which the gas pipeline passes.

Previously, German environmentalists from the environmental organization Deutsche Umwellfe wanted to prevent the construction of the “Northern Flow-2” construction. They appealed to the court of Hamburg demanding to cancel the permission previously issued by the regulator to lay the gas pipeline in German waters.

Before that, the Federal Office for Shipping and Hydrography of Germany (BSH) has already rejected the demand of ecologists. The department stated that the concerns of environmental organizations regarding the fact that the construction of the gas pipeline allegedly harm the nesting birds, did not find confirmations.
