Russia will build its own orbital station

Russian President Vladimir Putin during a closed meeting on the development of the space industry approved a project for the construction of a national orbital station, which will become an alternative for the International Space Station (ISS). It is reported by “Moscow Komsomolets”.

It is assumed that the construction of its own orbital station Ross Russia will begin in the near future, “to prevent a large temporary gap between the conservation of our segment on the ISS and the appearance of a new working area in orbit.” The publication states that the preliminary date of the conservation of the old segment of the ISS is called 2025. It also notes that the solution is dictated by a worn out of a number of modules of the Russian segment of the ISS.

previously in “Roskosmos” offered to abandon the International Space Station (ISS) due to the high cost. In the state corporation, they calculated that after 2025 avalanche-like failure of the ISS systems will begin, as a result of which further maintenance of the station will cost 10-15 billion rubles.

MCS is operated since the end of 1998, the service life expires in 2024, but the extension of the term of operation until 2030 is considered.
