Deputy Foreign Ministry Alexander Pankin voiced RIA Novosti Action Plan in case Russia is disabled from the Swift payment system.
According to him, in this case, Moscow will use other possibilities. At the same time, Pankin denoted that Russia does not intend to abandon SWIFT.
Deputy minister stressed, the question of possible partners in case of development of the SWIFT alternative is not yet discussed.
Earlier, Pankin allowed the appearance of alternatives to the SWIFT payment system in Russia. According to him, the emergence of such a system will be not only a reaction to a modern geopolitical situation, but also the answer to the need to upgrade payment methods, taking into account achievements in the digital sphere. The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov, in turn, noted that Moscow sees the need to move to a national or alternative dollar currency in settlements with other states and is actively engaged in refusal to the payment systems controlled by the West.
SWIFT is an international system of information transfer and payments between banks. Over 11 thousand large organizations in 200 countries are connected to it. Russia is one of the most active participants in the system.
