Blocked Suez Canal Ship arrested and demanded “ransom”

Egypt’s authorities were arrested by the Ever Given vessel and demanded from its owner “ransom” – compensation in the amount of 900 million dollars. This is reported by a local Shorouk newspaper.

It is reported that the amount includes the cost of removing the container carrier with the grieces, its repair, as well as economic losses incurred by the administration of the channel due to its blocking. Before paying compensation, the ship will be under the jurisdiction of the Egyptian court.

Suez Canal was blocked on March 23. Experts did not exclude that Ever Given will leave for the liberation of Ever Given, but remove the ship from the Mel and towed to a large bitter lake found on March 29. Navigation resumed by the evening of the same day.

On April 2, an investigation was launched on the causes of the incident. The head of the Department of Usama Rabia promised that it would not take much time. Previously, he said that the results of the investigation will be announced on Thursday, April 15.
