The number of incidents in the United States associated with internal terrorism has reached a new maximum, mainly due to supporters of white superiority, antimuslim and anti-government extremists. The Washington Post newspaper drew on it, after analyzing the data of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, CSIS.
“most worried that the number of internal terrorist conspiracy and attacks is the highest over the past decades,” said Set Jones, director of the CSIS database project, non-partisan Washington non-profit organization specializing in national security issues. “Americans so important to understand the seriousness of the threat before it is aggravated,” he added.
According to the analysis, such a surge reflects the growing threat in a sharp rise in internal terrorism in 2020 amid the last 25 years. It is noted that the right extremist attacks and conspiracies significantly overshadow attacks and conspiracies of extremely left forces, and also lead to more deaths. So, since 2015, the right extremists were involved in 267 conspiracies or attacks, as a result of which 91 people died. At the same time, attacks and conspiracies attributed to the supporters of extremely left views, led to 66 incidents, as a result of which 19 people died. At the same time, the peak of the number of all cases of internal terrorism in the country fell for 2020.
The victims of attacks were a wide layer of American society, including blacks, Jews, immigrants, representatives of LGBTK, Asian and other color people. In addition, it is noted that over the past six years, dozens of religious institutions, including mosques, synagogues and churches for blacks, as well as clinics for abortions and government buildings were threatened, burning and shelling.
