Today, April 9, 2021, on board the International Space Station arrived in the 65th long expedition, an unusual member of the crew arrived. The “Dreamer” was created from the drawings of children with oncological diseases from 10 countries and 20 cities. Little artists from Russia, Switzerland, Serbia, Zambia, Great Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Armenia, Zambia left their dreams of a healthy and happy life on the Skafandra.
“Dreamer” will be the fourth artwafder, visited at the International Space Station. Initially, the idea of creating a skater from the drawings of oncological patients was born in 2015 at the American art therapist Jena Sayen, the founder of the Art in Medicine program in the Hospital of MD Anderson and Astronaut NASA Nicole Stott. The first such art-space called “courage” only painted MD Anderson patients. The art project “SPAFANDER” was created to attract the attention of the international community to the problem of oncological diseases and the association of people who encountered this misfortune. The desire to give such patients to the hope of recovery very soon united many countries.
In 2016, children from Russia, who, together with patients from Germany, Japan, USA and Canada, have created the project “Unity” (“Unity”) to the project. Then the public movement appeared in our country, and now – the Unity Charitable Foundation, which develops this Art project in partnership with the American Foundation Space for Art Foundation, with the support of Roskosmos State Corporation and Rocket and Space Enterprises.
Each colorful skatera has a name – “courage”, “unity”, “victory”. “Comit” symbolizes the strength of the spirit of all children who collided with a serious illness, their parents, doctors, “unity” by the first international art scaffold, the name “Victory” came up with the astronaut Roscosmos, Alexander Misurnkin, who met “victory” on board the ISS.
