Gasoline in Russia went up with ahead of schedule

Gasoline at gas stations (gas station) of Russia rose from the beginning of 2021 with a lead of last year’s schedule, writes Kommersant with reference to Rosstat data.

According to the departments of the department, for the week, completed on April 5, gasoline in Russian gas stations rose by 0.3 percent. Since the beginning of the year, prices rose by 3.2 percent, which is 1.3 times more than the entire last year.

Also, the rise in fuel prices is ahead of the current inflation rate equal to 2.1 percent (as of April 5).

Retail prices for gasoline in Russia are traditionally followed by wholesale late for a month. Those in turn directly depend on world oil prices and the volume of its supply in the domestic market. Since the beginning of the year, world oil prices grew, which made exports more attractive for mining companies that reduced the offer within the country.

The government acted a number of measures in this background, in particular, increased the oil refining standards in the domestic market, necessary to obtain compensation in the form of damper surcharge to the excise tax on oil raw materials, and also raised the navigation itself – from May 1, its size will increase on average by 1.35 rubles per liter of gasoline sold inside.

The Ministry of Energy, in turn, explains the rise in gasoline prices by the fact that in 2020 they lagged behind inflation. The ministry assured that from March 10, the situation in the domestic market has stabilized, and the rise in prices for gas stations does not exceed the inflation rate.
