US President Joe Biden asked the Congress to allocate $ 715 billion to the Pentagon. According to the budget proposals of the White House, these funds are planned to be spent, including to deter threat, allegedly emanating from China and Russia, clarifies TASS.
“The request has an emphasis on countering the threat from China as the main task of the Pentagon. The Ministry of Defense will also strive to restrain the destabilizing behavior from Russia,” is emphasized in document.
Earlier it was reported that the American leader would cut a military budget for seven billion dollars compared to the amount that his predecessor Donald Trump wanted to allocate. It was specified that part of the military budget will be aimed at environmental initiatives inside the Pentagon. At the same time, in the budget for fiscal 2022, for the first time in ten years, it is not provided for a clear division into military and non-military expenses, so the US Congress will be able to redirect part of defense funds for other needs.
