US wanted to discuss the boycott of the upcoming winter Olympiad in China with their foreign allies and partners. This was announced by the head of the press service of the US State Department, weeks, his TASS quotes.
During a briefing, he was asked about whether Washington examines the idea of ”joint boycott” Olympiad in the PRC.
“We, of course, wish to discuss it. And we, of course, we understand that the coordinated approach will answer not only our [American] interests, but also the interests of our allies and partners,” said price.
According to him, this question is on the agenda, the United States will lead “close consultations” with the allies on this matter. He also stated that Beijing is responsible for various serious violations of human rights, in particular in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Area (Suar).
Winter Olympiad will be held in Beijing from 4 to 20 February 2022.
On April 6, North Korea refused to participate in the Olympiad, which will be held in the summer of this year in Tokyo, due to the situation with Coronavirus. The decision was made during the General Meeting of the Olympic Committee of North Korea, which took place on March 25 in Pyongyang.
In early March, the President of South Korea Moon Zhey Inu said that Tokyo Olympic Games will provide an opportunity to resume negotiations between the United States and North Korea. The South Korean leader also called the upcoming Summer Olympiad with a chance for a dialogue between two Korea, as well as between Seoul and Tokyo.
