Dozens of women in Chile were received by the state program approved by the authorities the contraceptive drug Anulette CD and collided with the fact that he did not work – they eventually become pregnant. It is reported by CNN.
The reporting of the TV channel describes the history of two Chilean women, both of whom did not plan to conceive a child because of poverty – and now, without the possibility of interrupting pregnancy, try to accumulate money for the maintenance of future children. It is known that at least 170 women were in such a situation.
The state refuses to take responsibility for what happened. Human rights defenders who held the case, when it became known about dozens of victims, report that the authorities did not cover the problem openly. This means that in the agricultural areas affected by the program, but not secured Internet access, there are still hundreds of women who got pregnant due to defective tablets. The identified victims are planning to submit a collective claim in court.
It is also noted that after a few months of proceedings, the state imposed large fines on the company that produced pills. But the exact reason for the population got a defective drug, it remains unknown: the problem could arise both in production and when storing medication.
The authorities of some countries consider contraception as a whole unwanted: so, President Tanzania called for women of the country to not enjoy contraceptive and thus “free their ovaries.”
