Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the US exit from a nuclear transaction with Iran is a demonstration of the complete non-remoteness of Washington. He expressed his position, answering the issues of Chinese media. The conversation is published on the Foreign Ministry website.
Lavrov noted that the United States did not just stop fulfilling their obligations under the Treaty, which is now trying to reanimate, but also banned all other countries to fulfill UN Security Council resolutions. According to the minister, in the West, this decision of Washington was perceived as a “reality”. However, the Russian minister stressed that this is not a “reality”, but a gross violation of international law.
Foreign Minister expressed the hope that the United States, who expressed the intention to return to a nuclear deal, realize their desire.
Previously, Lavrov revealed the essence of Western diplomacy. Arguing about the current policy of the United States and their allies, he noted that in the West, they learned to apply classical diplomacy. The minister also complained that “as soon as our Western partners (who use such methods), they meet polite rebuff, they immediately go to the sanctions.”
ACPD Agreement (joint comprehensive action plan) on Iran was concluded in the summer of 2015 between Tehran and six intermediary countries. Later, Iran was caught in gross violations of agreements. In early May 2018, Trump announced the unilateral yield of Washington from the transaction and the resumption of anti-Iranian sanctions. Iran reported a refusal to agreements on CRPD in January 2020.
