Richard Stallman, founder of free software movement, GNU project, CPO Foundation and Freedom of Programming, the author of the GPL license, as well as the creator of such projects as GCC, GDB and Emacs, in its Speech at the LibrePlanet 2021 conference announced a return to the Board of Directors of the Fund Fund. President of the Foundation SPO remains Jeffrey Knaut, who was elected in 2020.
Recall that Richard Stallman established the organization Free Software Foundation 1985, a year after the basis of the GNU project. The organization was created to protect against companies with a dubious reputation that are shown in the appropriation of code and trying to sell some of the first tools of the GNU project developed by Pokolman and his comrades. Three years later, Pokalman was prepared by the first version of the GPL license, which determined the legal framework of the free software distribution model.
In September 2019, Richard Stolman took off the powers of the President of the Fund and left the Board of Directors of this organization. The decision was made after the prosecution of the behavior, unworthy of the leader of the movement of the SPO, and the threats of the breaking of relationships with the SPO of some communities and organizations. Later, an attempt was made to reduce the influence of collisman on the GNU project, in which he retained leadership, but this initiative was not successful.
