Police of Strasbourg is looking for the driver of the Russian consulate, which is accused of selling hundreds of stolen bicycles. It is reported by Euractiv edition with reference to sources, acquaintances with the course of the investigation.

Russian attracted the attention of law enforcement officers in February. Then the former deputy mayor of Strasbourg was stolen by an expensive electric bike, and a few days later he discovered an announcement of its sale on the website Leboncoin. A former official immediately appealed to the police, which contacted the seller. He appointed a meeting near the black entrance of the Russian consulate.

A man showed four bikes, the serial number at one of which coincided with stolen, and presented a fake receipt about their purchase with the seal of the Russian consulate. The police detained Russian, confiscated bicycles from him and delivered to the interrogation, but a day later, they were released at the time of the investigation. Soon the driver went to Russia allegedly due to health problems.

later, law enforcement officers found that from January 2020, about 300 ads for the sale of expensive bikes were published on the website of LEBONCOIN announcements, the total value of which can reach 100,000 euros. It is reported that the investigation is still going on, but the prosecutor’s office may require condemn the Russian in absentia.
