The UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) warned about the likelihood of a global food crisis in his report, the newspaper “Vedomosti” reports.
In the organization, they noticed that the average annual number of disasters was more than three times higher than 30-50 years ago. We are talking about natural fires, extreme weather phenomena, invasions of pests and other cataclysms. Approximately 63 percent of damage from them accounted for agriculture.
Coronavirus pandemic aggravated the already devastating systemic risks for the global food system, noted there. However, according to the director of the Center for Conjunctive Research with HSE Georgy Ostapkovich, the UN constantly makes such applications. “So they knock out money from developed countries for the poorest states,” he explained.
