Debian project developers reported about translation of the Debian batch base 11 “Bullseye” to the stage complete freezing , in which the process of transferring key packets and packages without autopkgtests from unstable in Testing will be completely stopped And the stage of intensive testing and correcting blocking problems will begin. In special cases, unstable packages can be transferred manually, but this requires obtaining approval from the team responsible for preparing release.
Recall that on January 15, 2021, the first stage of freezing of the Debian 11 packet base was completed, within which the execution of “transitions” was discontinued (package updates, which requires adjustments to other packets, which leads to temporary deletion of packets from Testing), And also stopped updating the packages required for the assembly (Build-Essential). On February 12, a soft freezing of the batch base was held, at which the reception of new source packets was stopped and the ability to re-enable previously remote packets was closed.
Currently there is a 240 critical errors blocking a release (two months ago was 472, at the time of freezing in Debian 10 – 316, Debian 9 – 275, Debian 8 – 350, Debian 7 – 650). The final release of Debian 11 is expected in summer.
