Italian Prime Minister Mario Dragi agreed with the opinion of German Chancellor Angels Merkel about the possibility of independent procurement of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus “satellite V” in case the European Union does not reach a general decision on this issue. Dragi called “normal pragmatism” a statement Merkel that Germany independently approves “satellite V” and will buy the drug if this will not be done by the European Medicine Agency (EMA), and stated that Rome admits the adoption of a similar measure. “It is necessary to rely on European unity, but if it is not achieved, you need to do differently,” he summarized during his press conference as the Prime Minister of Italy.
Earlier on March 19, German Chancellor Angela Merkel made independent procurement of Germany of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus “satellite V” if the European Union does not reach a general solution. According to Merkel, Europe should use any vaccine admitted by the European Medicine Agency (EMA). “If it does not reach such European procurement, and the signs that it happens is, we will have to go through the German path alone,” she added.
Before that, the representative of the European Commission (EC) was given a spinant announced the beginning of the third wave of coronavirus in Europe. She noted that in different countries the pace of distribution of the disease is different. Nevertheless, she called on to speed up the vaccination process. At the same time, the Minister of Health of the Federal Republic of Germany Jens Schpppe warned about the lack of vaccines in Europe to prevent the third wave. According to him, even if the supply of vaccines in the EU stabilize, at least a few weeks will fall on vaccination of all risk groups.
