Lithuanians will be allowed to hire a vaccine Astrazeneca out of turn

The Lithuanian Ministry of Health considers the opportunity to allow their citizens to be vaccinated against coronavirus from Astrazeneca outside the previously set queue, writes LRT.LT with reference to the head of Arunas Dulkis.

According to him, this will happen after the European Medicine Agency will finally confirm the safety of the drug and give a positive conclusion on its application. “Since our vaccination strategy was based exclusively on vaccination for priority groups, we will probably review and change these decisions,” said Dulkis.

On March 16, the Ministry of Health of Lithuania, after several other European countries, suspended the use of Astrazeneca vaccine in the republic due to recorded cases of its side effects. Later, the president of the country Gitanas housing criticized this decision and stated that the ministry thus undermined the confidence of citizens to the substance.

Previously, German scientists tied the rare type of brain veins thrombosis and the preparation of the British-Swedish company. According to their data, the increase in the number of cases of the specific form of thrombosis, which is associated with a decrease in the number of platelets and bleeding, coincides with the vaccination.
