Death of AstraZeneca vaccinated patient under investigation in Austria

Austria is investigating the circumstances of a patient who was vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine and died 10 days later. ORF reports this with reference to the Federal Office for Healthcare Safety.

According to the newspaper, experts will conduct an autopsy and find out if the vaccine could lead to the death of a 49-year-old woman.

As it became known a day earlier, in Austria, vaccination was suspended with a drug from the batch from which the deceased nurse was inoculated. Another unusual case is associated with the same party – a 35-year-old patient, also a medical worker, developed pulmonary embolism.

Earlier it was reported that Austria wanted to produce the Russian Sputnik V vaccine and began negotiations on this matter. The country is also considering purchasing the vaccine if approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
