Israeli army girls spoke about what their service looked like during the pandemic and how they participated in the fight against the coronavirus. Their stories are published by RIA Novosti.
Lieutenant Dana Tsorenko said that during the year of the pandemic she managed to work in a special coronavirus department of a hospital in Haifa, where only military personnel worked. She explained that the department only worked for a few months and was closed when the number of critically ill patients began to decline. “Israel is known for the fact that if an earthquake or other disaster occurs in other countries, it always sends a group of doctors from the army to help. But this was the first time that Israeli military medics went to help their citizens,” Tsorenko said. >
But Major Marina Melzer, together with her colleagues, helped prepare hotels for patients who did not have enough places in hospitals. According to her, there was no such experience in world practice, so everything had to be done from scratch. In addition, Melzer helped with epidemiological investigations and taking tests for coronavirus, helping in the arrangement of special points. “I am proud that I was able to do my little bit in this fight,” the soldier shared.
