State Duma demanded to regulate food prices

State Duma deputy from the LDPR party Vitaly Pashin said about the need to regulate food prices by curbing trade margins. In his opinion, the current situation hits primarily the producers, reports 360.

Pashin is confident that retail chains, despite the efforts of the government, earn at the same level as before. The MP indicated that it is imperative to keep prices down for essential products – these are 25 units.

He cited as an example the freezing of prices for products by poultry farms. According to Pashin, manufacturers can afford to “poke fun” in profits and, in general, should be held accountable, including for pricing.

Earlier, Pashin’s colleague, a parliamentarian from United Russia, Anatoly Vyborny, proposed fighting inflation with the help of criminal liability for reports of price increases exceeding official data. The MP wants to equate this information with market manipulation.

He developed a bill providing for a fine of 200 to 500 thousand rubles for individuals and from 500 to 800 thousand for legal entities for such actions. It also provides for imprisonment for up to three years.

Meanwhile, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov noted that the Kremlin is satisfied with the results of the government’s fight against price increases.
