Construction of the second string of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline in the exclusive economic zone of Denmark will begin in March. Such terms are named in the schedule received by the Danish Energy Agency (DEA) from the construction operator Nord Stream 2 AG, TASS reports.
The representative of the press service of the department clarified that immediately before the start of work, the operator must submit an adjusted schedule, but he will not require additional approval.
Earlier it was reported that the Akademik Chersky pipelayer arrived in Kaliningrad for the next tests. The vessel was considered as the main candidate for the resumption of construction of Nord Stream 2, but to date, ten months after arriving in the Baltic Sea, it has not been used in the work.
The “Fortune” barge is laying pipes. As of early March 2021, the completion rate is 98 percent. After the Danish waters, construction will have to be carried out off the coast of Germany.
On March 4, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Gazprom Famil Sadigov said that work on the completion of construction would not be completed until September 2021, although earlier it was said about the end of April. Many factors can intervene, including the weather, he said.
The problems of certification and insurance of the gas pipeline remain unresolved, European companies refuse to cooperate under the threat of sanctions from the United States. In January, Gazprom admitted that the route would not be launched at all, but only in case of exceptional conditions.
The administration of US President Joe Biden has not yet extended sanctions on Nord Stream 2, which has caused outrage from Congressmen.
