American entrepreneur, founder of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk named the reason for the explosion of the Starship spacecraft prototype. He wrote about this in his Twitter -account.
Musk explained that the SN10 engine had low thrust, likely due to a partial ingress of helium from the fuel tank. He noted that due to the impact at a speed of 10 meters per second, the supports and part of the “skirt” broke during the landing. At the same time, the entrepreneur emphasized that several fixes for SN11 tests are already being prepared.
Earlier it was reported that the Starship prototype exploded a few minutes after landing at a training ground in the Boca Chica area in the US state of Texas. During the tests, the ship climbed to an altitude of about ten kilometers, performed planned maneuvers, re-started the engines before landing and successfully completed it.
